History
I was born and raised in Ogden, and completed my Bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Human Nutrition from Southern Utah University where I graduated Summa Cum Laude. I also volunteered at the Canyon Creek Women’s Crisis Center in Cedar City, and completed the 40 hour training specific to working with those who have experienced domestic violence and sexual assault. I moved to Beaverton, OR after being accepted in to the Masters of Applied Psychological Science program at Pacific University on the Clinical Psychology track. There I learned about clinical psychology and the practice of counseling, and developed helpful and important skills for providing counseling for survivors of domestic violence, as well as providing counseling for the general public. This included training in assessment (I utilize a biopsychosocial spiritual approach), counseling skills, substance abuse, evidence-based practices, and many more. I completed my internship as part of the program at the Domestic Violence Resource Center, which is housed in the Washington County Family Justice Center. There I trained under a counselor who is trained in EMDR and learned many valuable skills, as well as attended an additional 40 hour training specific to working with those who have experienced domestic violence and sexual assault in a trauma-informed manner. I conducted individual counseling with children, adolescents, and adults (ranging from 5 years old to 60+). My clients were female, male, and gender nonbinary. I had the privilege and opportunity to create a healthy relationships group for women at the local community corrections group, as well as co-facilitated a group for teens where we taught them effective tools to cope with conflict and prevent interpersonal violence. I also co-facilitated a psychoeducational support group for survivors wherein we covered multiple topics about domestic violence, healthy relationships, boundaries, grief, self-compassion, and more. All of this experience provided me with a unique skillset to provide counseling for survivors of domestic violence and trauma in general.
I graduated in August of 2018 and moved back to Utah to be closer to my family and partner, and to provide counseling services. I am currently licensed as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of Utah.
